This qualification reflects the role of builders, site managers and managers of small to medium-sized building businesses who apply knowledge of structural principles, codes, standards and legal requirements to Class 1 and 10, to a maximum of two storeys and Class 2 to 9 Type C constructions, and who plan and supervise safe building and construction work, prepare and administer contracts, and who apply quality principles to building and construction projects.

Building relates to construction and Site Management is about managing the factors around construction, such as the deployment of crews with specialised skills (including builders), product compliance, deployment of contract specialised skills, weather and site location.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Genuine Student (GS) requirements as set by the Department of Home Affairs to establish genuine intent to enter Australia temporarily to study.
  • Must be over 18. Camden College does not accept students under 18 years of age.
  • Entry into this course students must be able demonstrate a IELTS 6 or equivalent English proficiency, OR
  • Proof that the student has successfully completed an English Language course with an Australian educational institution exiting at an Upper Intermediate level

DELIVERY & LOCATION

This course is delivered face to face at Camden College’s Campus in Underwood. All students have up to 52 weeks to complete the required theory and practical components of this program. The 52-week period consisting of:

  • Classroom training
  • Classroom theory assessment
  • Classroom practical assessment
  • Simulated workshop practical training
  • Simulated workshop assessment
  • Holidays

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)

RPL is a process that provides a student with recognition for formal and non-formal training as well as life/work experience. Learners who believe they already have some of the competencies in the course may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Candidate must be working in the building and construction industry to apply for RPL for this qualification. The rational for this is that the RPL candidate will require a current qualified supervisor/employer to verify their skills and knowledge as a Third Party.

Application may only be made prior to enrolment or start of study of the course and must be made using the RPL Application Form. If the application is successful and results in a shorter course duration, Camden College may amend and reissue a CoE.
