This includes training and assessment. In addition, students are required to complete up to a maximum of 5 hours per week independent, unsupervised activities.

RPL CANDIDATE

Students should demonstrate an interest in and suitability for work in the Construction field. This may include some previous work in the industry or prior exposure to this area through school or other activities.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

This Certificate II is designed to introduce students to the recognised trade callings in the construction industry and provide meaningful credit in a construction industry Australian Apprenticeship. This course is designed to cover topics common to all construction industry trades, including construction industry induction training and the fundamentals of bricklaying, simple concreting and tiling.

As this is a pre-vocational course designed for students with little to no vocational experience (apart from assistant labourers, for example), the College will not offer RPL too ensure students have the opportunity to undertake training in ‘current’ industry skills and knowledge. Credit will be given for units of competency for which a certified copy is produced, subject to the College’s own verification. This will be identified prior to course commencement to enable any adjustments to the course program to be finalised.
